In a unexpected crossover event that challenges conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Disclosed

According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual encounter draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where whispers of banned ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the darkness." The storyline presents a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a secret group.

The mission focuses on "strange tests and a terrifying foe" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Changes

The trailer highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Extra Content

Players who finish the adventure will acquire an exclusive katana alongside multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Special implements
• Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Addition

This patch also introduces the game's latest free story episode, titled "The Mystery." This playful mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
